OLD FIELDS SOLAR
Old Fields Solar is a proposed utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) project as large as 250 megawatts, which will generate clean, affordable and homegrown energy and substantial local revenues for Hardy County in West Virginia.
That’s enough clean energy to power approximately 37,000 typical West Virginia homes, and the project also has the potential to include battery energy storage (BESS).

ABOUT THE PROJECT
Up to 250 megawatts (MW) of solar to be included to support the electric grid, potentially including a battery energy storage system (BESS) as well.
Will generate enough clean energy to power 37,000 typical West Virginia homes.
Targeting commercial operations in 2030.
Significant increase in annual revenues to local taxing districts.
Helps meet the growing demand for renewable energy sources in West Virginia and bolstering the regional grid’s reliability.
Life cycle: 35 years from the date of commercial operation.
Will utilize thoughtful design elements such as strategic setbacks from roads and property lines, vegetative buffers/screening, and wildlife-friendly fencing.
Will incorporate a site-specific grazing plan, to potentially incorporate agricultural components as well as native plants and pollinator habitat.
